Illustration is a little crude and it took me longer than I thought it would, but it was my first attempt at a comic, recreating some iconic moments from the 1956 All-Ireland Hurling Final between Wexford and Cork.

In the last few minutes, Cork's great Christy Ring was through on goal. He was all set to score the possible winner but Wexford's goalkeeper Art Foley blocked the shot and cleared down the field. Ring continued his run into goal and grabbed Foley's hair d and said something to the relieved keeper. For years, people wondered what Christy said to Art.

Martin Codd's book "The Way I Saw It" in 2005 finally solved it when Codd received a written letter from Foley explaining the incident, and the events leading up to it in great detail. Christy, after Art had made the save, raced in grabbed Art by the hair and said "You little black bastard you've beaten us"; Foley replied "It's about so and so time someone did" but he then went on and congratulated Foley.

I used a bit of poetic licence in the comic, left out the hair pulling and changed what Ring said a bit but you get the general idea of the situation anyway.

Also added one of the greatest displays of showmanship when Wexford's Nick O'Donnell and Bobby Rackard raised Christy Ring on their shoulders having just beaten his Cork team.

One of my favourites because it is so simple yet recognisable.

They played before my time but are legends of Wexford hurling.

In my opinion, DJ Carey was the best hurler I ever saw but Henry is a very close second.

Cantona certainly left his mark at Manchester United in more way than one anyway!

Did this illustration the week Keane was announced as Assistant manager to Martin O'Neill. A super player but often the red mist would appear and strike fear into all around him. Great captain for Ireland until the whole Saipan fiasco. Hopefully he'll be a success with helping O'Neill bring the Republic back to some prominence again.

This one is of the legendary RTÉ GAA commentator, Marty Morrissey. Our very own Anchorman. 
I added one of Ron Burgundy's quotes here. Also ties in with Marty's famous line when he said "There won't be a cow milked in Clare for a week" after, I think, Clare won the Munster Football final.
